The Library as a Center for Teaching and Learning
The library exists to support teaching and learning at Utah Tech University; our goals are outlined in our instruction plan. We provide support for you and your students in a variety of ways.
Library Instruction: Librarians offer a variety of basic and customized instruction classes that assist students and faculty in effective use of library resources. To arrange for subject specific instruction, contact your library liaison to arrange for a session in the library or in your classroom. Faculty are encouraged to participate in the planning for the session and in the session itself as this highlights its importance for your students.
Bringing your class to the library: You are welcome to bring your class to the library at any time. It is helpful if you notify the Public Services Librarian or your library liaison about a specific research assignment so that reference personnel are alerted to address research needs or assignments with your students. If your students are doing collaborative work, you will want to be aware of media enhanced group study rooms on the second floor which students may book through the Utah Tech Reservation System, as well as group study rooms on the mezzanine and fourth floor.
Your suggestions are always welcome! Contact your library liaison or Kelly Peterson-Fairchild, Dean of Library & Learning Services, to give us ideas on how we can provide you with better service for you and your students.
